My house is my castle…BAH!

Maybe you look around your house at the end of a day and think about how glorious it is for everything to have a place and for it to be there. Perhaps you glance around with pride at the perfectly organized existence that is your world.  Dishes washed, laundry folded and tucked away into tidy drawers, your clean abode is a beautiful representation of your tidy life.

I don’t like you.  You can feel free to stop reading now.

Because right now I’m sitting here in front of my computer thinking about the to-do list of things I have to get caught up on from our leisurely 3-day weekend.

Laundry

It’s all clean.  No, no really, you can stop applauding now.  But it’s sitting around in hampers and if I don’t fold it tonight it stands a really good chance of staying there for the rest of the week, only being folded at the last minute when I need the hampers again for next week’s laundry.  It’s a vicious cycle.

Floors

I have tile floors throughout my house, so you can hear the sand being shuffled from room to room via little feet.  There is a cluster of suspicious foil wrappers under the coffee table that tells me someone has been into the Hershey’s kisses.  I MUST vacuum.

My kitchen

Well. There just aren’t words.

The bathrooms

Peter was home for the past week, so having two male in the house again should make the conditions in there pretty clear.

This doesn’t even touch on the ongoing list of things that should be getting done that probably won’t until the earth stops rotating on its axis the day we move…things like windows getting scrubbed, air vents that need to be cleaned, stacks of pictures that need be rehung after our last painting adventure…in MAY. When you start to think that the cleaning scene from “Enchanted” looks pretty good, rats and roaches and all…you have a problem.
I wonder if I burned this house to the ground, would the insurance company would use this blog as evidence in my arson case?

Oh, I know. Everything gets put off until the Eleventh hour here. It’s disgusting.

    And you may ask yourself
    What is that beautiful house?
    And you may ask yourself
    Where does that highway go?
    And you may ask yourself
    Am I right? …am I wrong?
    And you may tell yourself
    My god!…what have I done?

    What have I done?

    I hired a cleaning service.

Oh, I’m glad it’s not only me! I have a friend whose house is always like a show house every time I walk in there. I wonder how she does it with three teenagers of her own. I don’t strive for that. Life’s too short to have a perfect house – and it doesn’t make it a HOME anyway. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it !!

Sorry I’ve been away for a while. All sorts going on this end, work, summer holidays etc. The kids are all back at school from next Monday – yeah, life returns to some sort of normality. (Do Americans say normalcy?) Whatever!

Hope you had a good week with Pete. Take care.
Now – GO CLEAN UP THAT HOUSE!!

Feel free to block me… I’m the epitomy of “anal retentive”. I’ve slacked off big time in the past few months, but I still can’t let go of my proper remote placement fetish and messy counter tops make my head spin.
    Yeah, I know I need therapy. 😉

My cleaning priorities are make whatever smell …not smell. The rest is all cosmetic. 🙂

last week a cermaic flower (?) fell out of its vase (?) and crashed to the floor (?). we swept it into a corner…where it stayed for a week.
the corner was by the bathroom
each time we went to the bathroom, we’d say “careful of the glass”
it was fun and became a game…
    “careful of the glass”

then yesterday i hoovered it up.

    i miss our game.

sometimes a dirty house is more fun than a clean one.

Last night, I took a picture of the great chicken salad I made right after we ate dinner (for my blog post about the recipe). My husband asked wouldn’t I like to wipe the table first? And I told him I would just Photoshop out the crumbs. Then he made a little comment that I didn’t like!

We’ll see how dinner ends up (or doesn’t!) on the table tonight!

I am the same exact way. I am actually at work now and I am slacking just so I can give my brain a rest. With school, work, kids, hubby we rarely are able to keep up with housework. It’s just clean enough that DSS won’t take my kids away.

I love you for this post alone! ALL of the SAHM in my hood have house cleaners. I work and clean my own house. I’m such a martyr! I can keep the downstairs pretty presentable, but since that takes all my energy, the upstairs ends up looking like a crack house.

I usually just happy to look around and find the dog hasn’t chewed the eyes out of anybody’s stuffed animals that day.
